Our coffee

How fresh is your coffee?

Freshness is at the heart of great coffee which is why we only roast in small batches and never hold large volumes of pre-roasted stock.

Our coffee is roasted regularly throughout the week, and your order is packed and dispatched shortly after roasting to ensure it reaches you at its best. This approach helps preserve the beans’ natural flavour, aroma, and character from origin to cup.

Because coffee needs a short resting period after roasting to fully develop its flavour, you’ll receive your beans at the ideal point for brewing and enjoying.

How do I store my Purresso coffee?

To keep your Purresso coffee tasting its best, store it in an airtight container, away from light, heat and moisture. A kitchen cupboard is perfect.

Avoid storing coffee in the fridge or freezer once opened as moisture and odours can affect the flavour.

For best results, keep coffee as whole beans until you’re ready to brew and enjoy it within 4–6 weeks of opening.

What grind size shall I choose?

We offer whole bean and ground coffee for all types of brew methods. Please select your brew method when selecting your coffee for the most suitable grind.

Does your coffee have any allergens?

If you have any specific concerns about allergens, please email us before purchasing - admin@purresso.co.uk

Is your decaf chemical-free?

Yes! Both of our decaf coffees are decaffeinated without the use of chemicals. Our Cat Nap decaf uses the Swiss Water Process, a 100% chemical-free method that preserves flavour while our Slow Blink decaf uses water from the highest mountain in Mexico, leaving a coffee that is 99.9% caffeine free.

Can my cat have your coffee?

No, our coffee is for humans only, and it should never be given to cats.

Coffee contains caffeine, which is toxic to cats even in small amounts. Because cats are much smaller than people, caffeine can affect them very quickly and may cause symptoms such as restlessness, rapid breathing, vomiting, or heart problems.

If your cat accidentally drinks coffee or eats coffee grounds, it’s best to contact your vet as soon as possible.

How we support cats

How does Purresso support cats?

We donate 50p from every bag sold to The Stray Cat Club, helping cats in need in South London.

Who are The Stray Cat Club?

The Stray Cat Club is a UK charity dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating and rehoming cats, as well as supporting responsible ownership. You can find out more about how they work here

Is my purchase really making a difference?

Yes! Every single bag sold contributes directly. We choose to work with a smaller, local charity so we can see where every donation goes. Whether you buy one bag or many, you’re helping cats get the medical attention they need and support them as they find their forever homes. You can follow the stories of the cats that have benefitted from your donation via The Stray Cat Club on Instagram and Facebook.

Why cats?

Because life’s better with cats… and coffee! Purresso exists to combine great coffee while having a positive impact on the world, from the sourcing of sustainable fair trade coffee all the way along to cats in need.

Sustainability practices

Is your coffee sourced sustainably?

Yes, we believe our coffee should be a force for good (on both ends of the production line!) and sustainability is a key part of how we source our coffee.

We work with partners who prioritise environmentally responsible farming practices, including soil health, climate resilience, and long-term agricultural sustainability. We also work with supply chains that focus on fair value distribution and producer wellbeing.

Are your coffees traceable?

Yes, all coffees we source are traceable back to their origin.

This traceability allows us to verify ethical and sustainability standards while giving us full visibility over where and how each coffee was produced.

What does “ethically sourced” mean for Purresso coffee?

It means our coffee is grown and processed in ways that support farmers, protect the environment, and respect local communities. Every step of the supply chain is chosen with care.

How do you ensure coffee quality?

Before purchasing, coffees are evaluated through sensory tasting (cupping) to ensure they meet our quality standards.

This means every coffee is selected not just for ethical sourcing, but also for flavour, consistency, and overall drinking experience.

Do you support any wider coffee initiatives?

Yes, we believe in supporting the wider coffee community as well as individual growers.

For example, contributions are made to programmes that help coffee farmers improve crop resilience, sustainability practices, and long-term income opportunities.

Where does Purresso coffee come from?

Our coffee is sourced directly from trusted growers around the world, including Brazil and Ethiopia to Indonesia. We choose farms and cooperatives that focus on quality, care, and sustainable practices.

Do you support sustainability beyond sourcing?

Yes, our growers follow practices that protect soil health, biodiversity, and long-term viability, and we maintain long-term partnerships to encourage environmental and social responsibility.
